Baby Thoughts

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Aren’t babies funny? Why do they fight sleep so much, when they are obviously very tired!

I often wonder what goes on their little minds…I can only imagine.

Baby’s thoughts:

*Tired eyes* Oh my eyes are feeling weird… let me open them wider…

WOW! I’ve never noticed that plain white wall before, and the light? Has that light always been there?

Why is mommy shielding my eyes. Stop! I want to see the bare wall! Why can’t I see the bare wall! *Cry*

One second later

*Laughter* You are so funny mommy! Watch, if I smile, you smile back… See!

*Laugh*  Isn’t this Fun? Do you want to play? Let’s play!

*Glance back at the light fixture* Oh good, the light is still there! I was worried it might leave… let me just stare at it…

Oh no the eye sensation is coming back…

*Looks back at bare wall* Open up eyes, Open up! Don’t Fail me Now! I want to see this wall!

Then I hear a deep baby sigh, eyes close unknowingly, and he is off to baby dreamland… sound asleep.

Babies are so sweet when they are sleeping.

A quick "hello" from Tiffany!

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

My name is Tiffany, and I’m really excited to have the opportunity to share some of my experiences and perspectives with you as a Strasburg Children Guest Blogger. Before having my first child, I was an eighth grade English teacher, and my husband and I spent all of my breaks from school travelling. I love to cook and especially have a weakness for sweets.

Speaking of sweets, I spend my days as a stay-at-home mom to my two-year-old, Anna Kate and 15-month-old, Connor. With two children who are about fourteen months apart in age, life is never dull! They are the best of friends, and are quickly becoming quite a humorous pair! Everyone told me it would happen, but I couldn’t comprehend how quickly they would change. It seems I blinked, and they became such capable little people.

Becoming a mother was the dream that trumped all other dreams in my life; the experience has been even better than I expected, not always easy, but definitely fulfilling. Seeing the world through the eyes of my children has awakened a new sense of adventure and creativity in me. For fear of making life sound too simplistic, I will be sure to add that my husband and I have to work much harder to find time to ourselves, the house is in a constant state of disarray, and my breakfast cereal is always soggy! But, I’m not telling you about anything you haven’t already experienced or watched someone experience! It’s just the realization that all of this is so fleeting that makes me want to savor each part of the adventure and live in a state of contentment, messes and all!
